AREAS OF SPECIAL FOCUS
Kristen has a passion for partnering with families and individuals to help them achieve their goals. Kristen’s approach to therapy is believing that change comes from hope, hard work, and caring support. She partners with you to see you through the change that you want to occur and encourages and challenges you to get you to where you want to be.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Jeremiah 29:11
Kristen firmly believes all individuals are valuable and that they have a purpose and plan for their lives. The challenges we face in the world can make these purposes cloudy and sometimes seem out of reach. When we make efforts to grow that don’t always succeed, we can become discouraged and tired. However, with the help of the Holy Spirit and an educated perspective of therapy, healing and hope have room to grow and our most hurting relationships can find restoration and peace.

A SEASONED COUNSELOR
During her MFT training at Azusa Pacific University’s Community Counseling Center, Kristen gained experience working with individuals, families, young adults, and children in various struggles. Areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, ADHD, eating disorders, self-esteem and confidence struggles, identity formation, trauma, grief and loss, family conflict, and communication. Kristen is trained to support hurting marriages and relationships through the healing process and to equip couples with the tools they need to be successful. Utilizing the skills of successful therapies such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman method, Kristen will identify the patterns that are stalling the growth in your relationship. Kristen has guided many college students and children during times of tough transition and challenging experiences. In working with students and children, Kristen utilizes interactive discussion and play therapy to help a challenging process feel more comfortable and supporting.
Kristen believes that every session should start with an underlying foundation of empathy, a non-judgmental environment, and active listening. She believes that most struggles relate back to how we grew up and how we answered to challenging times in our family of origin. Identifying these patterns creates a more educated perspective and prepared environment to achieving your goals moving forward. Kristen is skilled in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals challenge their negative thinking and instill a more positive core belief of themselves. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) helps clients in challenging unrealistic expectations that they might have of themselves or of those around them. Kristen ultimately believes that increasing personal awareness, improving communication with others, accepting community support, and a personal relationship with the ultimate counselor, our Savior; better equips us to overcome inevitable challenges that we all face in life.
COMMITTED TO MINISTRY
Kristen grew up with a heart for ministry which ultimately led her to pursue ministry through therapy and helping those in need. Kristen deepened her knowledge and understanding of the Word and love of Christ studying abroad in Israel as well as serving on missions in Mexico, Haiti, and Cambodia. Kristen currently serves in the children’s ministry at her own church where she teaches Sunday School.
A PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER
Kristen has been invited to speak at several churches on topics of childhood developmental stages, parenting, course correction, relationships and communication, and marriage strengthening and repairing after difficult times.
COMMITTED TO FAMILY
Kristen has been married to her husband and best friend for just over a year. Newly married herself, Kristen understands and empathizes with the changes and transitions that come to couples preparing for marriage and newlyweds. Together Kristen and her husband love spending time with their large family including their 13 nieces and nephews ranging from ages 1-19. Christ is at the center of their relationship and home where they share in prayer and worship together.
