AREAS OF SPECIAL FOCUS

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, whose thoughts are fixed on You!  Isaiah 26:3

The basis of Mandy’s counseling is resting upon God’s sovereignty and trustworthiness.  God knows our hearts (Psalm 139:1), He understands our struggles (Isaiah 53:3a), and He desires to restore us and provide rest for our weary souls (Matthew 11:28-29).  Mandy believes that God does not waste any pain or hurt in the lives of His people, but desires to use painful circumstances for His purposes and His perfect will.

Mandy uses a cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling, which means that thoughts can impact feelings and behaviors.  Through counseling, Mandy seeks to help clients uncover beliefs, attitudes, thought patterns, and approaches to life which may be toxic.  She creates a therapeutic environment which promotes change in clients’ minds, hearts, and lives by providing support and guidance.  Mandy also invites God to transform these toxic beliefs and reveal His truth.

Her passion is counseling and she feels God has provided her with the gifts and skills necessary to effectively counsel.  She has a heart for helping those struggling with body image issues, eating disorders, or emotional eating issues.  Mandy also enjoys helping children, adolescents, adults, and families with issues such as depression, anxiety, ADD and ADHD, cutting, substance abuse, physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, grief and loss, homosexual issues and defiant behavior.  Mandy loves to assist in restoring and building relationships and delights in seeing others released from strongholds in their lives.

COMMITTED TO MINISTRY

Mandy has been a follower of Christ since 1990.  She was raised in a Christian home and is a committed member of a church fellowship.  Mandy has been actively involved in various ministries such as Vacation Bible School, youth ministry, church choirs and orchestras, small groups, and discipleship groups.  She is presently involved with the sight and sound team and a small group at her church, along with discipling and accountability relationships.  Mandy has participated in missions trips for assisting a youth group and building a college Christian program in Alaska and reaching out to Muslims in Switzerland.  She desires to see others know Christ personally and looks for opportunities to tell others about Him.

COMMITTED TO FAMILY

Even though Mandy’s parents and extended family live on the east coast, she has a devoted relationship with them and visits often.  She is a part of a strong, committed church family which supports her, encourages her, sharpens her, and provides gentle correction when needed.  Mandy also has a solid support system of Godly friends and siblings in Christ with whom she enjoys spending lots of quality time.
