AREAS OF SPECIAL FOCUS

Maisha has a passion for helping people achieve wholeness through acceptance and loving themselves as they are understanding that God created us all with awesome potential. Growth and change can be very difficult, but “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians4:13. She believes that the foundation of achieving and maintaining healthy relationships is congruent communication.

Maisha has worked with a culturally and clinically diverse client base that includes: couples, substance abuse, intimacy issues, and domestic violence. She also worked with problems such as anger management, parenting, depression, anxiety, assertiveness/self esteem, grief and loss, self harm, divorce, family, illness, and disabilities.

A SEASONED COUNSELOR

Maisha began lay counseling Teen girls and peers in her church as a young adult. Through a series of life changing experiences in her own life she felt a call to the ministry of Marriage and Family Therapy in 2005. Since then she has counseled in Non-Profit Community Counseling agencies in La Habra and Santa Fe Springs. Maisha asserts that establishing a relationship, safety, trust, and the absence of judgment are the seeds from which growth and healing emerge. She believes that she is called to plant those seeds.

COMMITTED TO MINISTRY

Maisha and her family are committed members of their church. She and her husband enjoy teaching the elementary age group in church school. Their sons are both members of the children’s church and enjoy their classes very much. Maisha is also involved in the Women’s ministry at her church.

COMMITTED TO FAMILY

Maisha has been Married for 7 ½ years and has two sons. She and her husband both maintain a close personal relationship with God and are committed to the covenant of marriage and raising their children with a strong spiritual foundation. Worship, service, prayer, and studying God’s word are fundamental to their family’s lifestyle. They also enjoy being a culturally diverse family and value the differences in their ethnic backgrounds as they do the blood ties that make them the same. Maisha is a firm believer in the power of knowing how extraordinary God has made us; she and her husband are dedicated to nurturing this power in their sons and teaching them to love themselves and others for who they are.
