Invalidation in marriage
With 90% accuracy researchers can now predict whether your marriage will survive or end in divorce. There are four conflict styles that best predict divorce (we call them the Four Pipelines of Poison). Shut off the pipelines and your marriage will survive and thrive. Let them flow and your marriage will erode to ruin. We have now come to the third style of conflict which is called – INVALIDATION.

In a world where it is politically incorrect to say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong,” there is wonderful healing in going against the tide. I want to share with you a little tool I’ve used in counseling couple for more that twenty-five years. I’ve found it to be, in many situations the fastest way to turn a troubled marriage around. It is based on a famous New Testament scripture that says, “Confess your faults one to another and pray for each other and you will be healed.” James 5:16.

What an exciting time it is in the history of Turning Point Counseling!! We are blessed by watching what God is doing to further His Kingdom!
In the last 4 months we have added three new locations throughout Southern California and continue to add more as this is written. In the next several months we anticipate adding new counseling locations in Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Santa Barbara, Santa Clarita, and in the Simi Valley area.

It’s the start of a new year! And with the purchase of new calendars and schedule books, we are tangibly reminded that many things in life have another chance to be restored, revitalized, and renewed. Many of us make valiant efforts toward this end when it comes to personal enrichment. But what kind of effort do we put into revitalizing and renewing one of the most important aspects of our lives- our marriages? If we are honest with ourselves, most of us would admit to being “unintentional” about our marriages- we push the cruise control button and let it “just happen.” If we let this go on for too long, we can find ourselves on a crash course toward marital discord.

10 Great Dates to Energize Your Marriage, by David and Claudia Arp, is a program designed to help you do just that! During the next 10 months, you will meet with other couples once per month to learn and share. You will address many relevant marital topics, such as intimacy, communication, and handling conflict. Also, you will have the opportunity to put into practice what you’ve learned through “dating” your spouse!

Turning point ministry group
God has been at work in Turning Point Counseling for the past 24 years. Much has happened since our beginning in 1983. As God usually does, He allows us to see His plan a little bit over time. Kevin and I have always been seeking ways to bring health and healing to marriages and families. Little did we know that this journey would allow us to be involved in so many areas of family need: parenting, marriage, divorce prevention, emotions, money management, debt management, cash management, and even mortgages! As we step back from our effort, we began to see a group of ministries develop with a common theme: to improve the quality of family life. We discovered that caring for the family covered a very wide spectrum. God has blessed us with specific ministries and organizations to address these needs in very practical ways.
I’m excited to reveal there will be a new face that will represent the way we want to revolutionize the quality of family life worldwide. Take a look at our new logo and how this will be incorporated into all of our organizations.
Wonderful things are happening for the Turning Point Ministry Group. Marriages are being healed, parents are getting back into control. The burden of debt is being lifted. Sound Biblical financial stewardship is being implemented. Dreams for a home are being fulfilled. There is so much to praise God for!
If the many blessings noted above weren’t enough, here’s the icing on the cake: we do it all in partnership with others. Our satellite churches, our partner organizations like Crown Financial Ministries, Christian Financial Professionals Network, and Best Way Metal Stamping (who supports many of our ministry efforts). And finally there are our ministry associates. The quality professional therapists who so lovingly minister to broken families. The gifted financial counselors who come along side those that are struggling with money management. Our devoted and skilled administrative and technology staff who work behind the scenes to make things happen. These people are the heart and soul of TPMG and we are truly blessed.
God has indeed blessed us with very knowledgeable servants who minister in our respected organizations. While most of what happens here at TPMG is on a one-to-one basis, we would like to open up the opportunity to minister to larger groups. Thus, we are pleased to announce the formation of a Turning Point Speaker’s Group. Many churches and organizations are in need of speakers to address current issues and topics. Our professionals are available to speak at groups that range from 10 to over 100 people and many can be provided at no cost or on a love offering basis. We are in the process of establishing a website to list our speakers and topics that will be available in the near future. I’ll keep you posted.
