Christ has called us to be free from fear and self-limiting thoughts and behaviors. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians he proclaims: “He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us” (Eph. 3:20). Holly delights in coming along side people to help them discover what and who God created and called them to be and to nurture the faith to allow God to lead them down that blessed path. This often involves facing our fears, worries and beliefs formed early in our lives and allowing God’s truth to transform us. She has a heart to work with blended families, women in abusive relationships, teens, adults in mid-life transition, anxiety, grief / loss and troubled marriages. Holly recognizes our deep need to be in relationship with God and others as well as our need to be authentic and have the freedom to be who God created us to be. Holly strives to hear and understand each person’s story completely, which in itself can be very healing. She then enjoys using a spiritually integrated approach to a blend of attachment, cognitive and systems counseling to bring about lasting change. For some clients, progress can be enhanced by utilizing art therapy. Holly is passionate about art therapy and has special training in this area. She loves being creative in the therapy process and has a “whatever it takes” attitude towards working with each client as God leads. As a trainee, Holly worked with college students at the Vanguard University Counseling Center. There she dealt such things as (adult) child abuse, eating and substance issues, identity and grief. Her next assignment was with the Orange County Department of Education where she worked with at-risk youth in their Access program. Here she helped students face a wide range of issues including, gang affiliation, incarceration, child abuse, substance issues, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. COMMITTED TO MINISTRY Holly was raised in the church, but surrendered her life to Christ completely at the age of 21. Since then she has lived securely in the arms of the Father riding out the roller coaster we call life! Her journey has been one of mounting testimonials of God’s loving faithfulness. Ministry has been a big part of Holly’s life for over 30 years. She has been a prayer counselor, worship leader and team member, using her skills of singing, playing flute and guitar. She has enjoyed blessing others with her drawings used for brochures, programs and logos. Holly has led Bible studies and most recently has participated in a program at her church mentoring younger women. A PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER Holly has spoken at women’s retreats as well as conducting Bible studies. She enjoys sharing her stories of God’s faithfulness and redeeming love in her own life. She has a thorough knowledge of Scripture and loves encouraging others to trust God through the darkest valleys of their life. Holly is blessed to encourage others to leave a fear-based way of living and allow God to expand their hopes and dreams to live the life of faith to which we have each been called. If you would like to schedule Holly as a guest speaker, please contact Frances J. Harvey at the Speakers Group for arrangements at 800-998-6329. COMMITTED TO FAMILY Holly believes that God has a beautiful plan for families. However, due to our brokenness and that of others we can find ourselves in intolerably painful situations. Holly has experienced that brokenness in her own family and has seen God heal, restore and redeem. Her compassion and identification with hurting families has given her the passion to work with hurting marriages and families. Holly has been married for 18 years, has two grown sons, a lovely daughter-in-law and one beautiful baby granddaughter. |
