AREAS OF SPECIAL FOCUS
Through training and experience, Heather has gained a deep understanding of parenting issues. She has had numerous opportunities to help with the life stages and challenges that children and adolescents go through.  She has experience and desire to help strengthen marriages, assist with divorce recovery, and navigate through times of grief.  Heather offers family support for mental illness such as bi-polar, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety; as well as helping the individuals who struggle with these disorders.  She understands the challenges that face women such as change of life, sobriety support, and codependence.

Heather believes that many things influence the counseling process. Spiritual awareness and religious background are taken into consideration as well as cultural views, family structure, age, and social/economic status. With her experience in the area of marriage and families, she provides counseling services to help people create peace and balance in their lives by enhancing growth and understanding toward God, self, and others.

A SEASONED COUNSELOR
Heather was the Outreach Coordinator for Casa Youth Shelter in Los Alamitos where she counseled run-a-way and throw-a-way youth. She has worked with at-risk youth as a counselor for a private school in Inglewood, and was able to develop her skills to communicate with and motivate defiant youth.  Heather’s years in private practice have given her the opportunity to work with a variety of individuals and families and her ongoing relationship with Twin Town Treatment Center has given her the opportunity to provide sobriety support for many recovering addicts and their families.

COMMITTED TO MINISTRY
Heather has been a member of her church since 1994. She has enjoyed helping in Children’s ministries as a Sunday school teacher, coordinator and Director of Children’s Ministries. Currently she is back to teaching Sunday school with her husband and enjoying it very much. Heather has taught parents, teachers, and worked with youth group leaders to enhance the church experience for children and adolescents.

A PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER
Heather has developed curriculum, provided workshops and lectured in multiple venues and on a variety of topics. She has worked with and taught court-ordered parenting classes, custody disputes and anger management, along with other areas of focus. Heather is co-author of "Art Therapy for Children of All Ages - a cook book for therapists," which gives them evaluation and therapy tools by utilizing are mediums with their clients.
