Turning Point Counseling’s 29 year existence has been to provide “TENDER HELP FOR TOUGH PROBLEMS” within the church and the surrounding community. The goal is to help people grow in their mental health so that they can be more effective stewards of their gifts/talents for the local church and to further the Kingdom of God. For this reason, our therapists work directly on church campuses so that the people have access to Christian counseling in a location close to their homes.
We have over 35 Satellite churches available in the LA, Orange, San Bernardino/Riverside, San Diego, Ventura counties as well as the San Fernando Valley, and in addition there are many partnering churches in these areas. The accessibility of counseling at various locations enables one to seeK counseling at their home church or travel to a nearby church for counseling (if they want to be discreet).
HOW YOUR CHURCH CAN BECOME A TPC SATELLITE and have a Professional, degreed TPC therapist counsel directly off your church campus:
- Meet with TPC Director of Operations
- Meet a perspective Therapist (s)
- Sign a covenant agreement
- Provide a furnished room that can accommodate up to a family of five
- Introduce the TPC Therapist at a Sunday morning service
- Place annoucements in the bulletin on a regular basis
- Place a link to the TPC on the church website
- Refer 1-2 new clients a month to TPC
HOW YOU CAN BECOME A PARTNERING CHURCH
and have access to TPC therapists throughout Southern California:
- Meet with TPC Director of Operations
- Sign covenant agreement
- The church places the TPC therapist(s) on their referral list

- Education - Special classes, training seminars or workshops for church members, staff, as a community outreach, etc…

For Satellite Churches:
- TPC can place your church onto their insurance coverage.
- While there are standard rates for therapy, the pastor can explore with the Director rates that make
sense for the community the church is located at.

I would says, the benefit to the church is fivefold for us...
- It provides a ministry partner rather than just a referral. We see TPC as a ministry partner…an in house service/ministry that shares our compassion for the hurting. All we have to do is provide a room and we have a healing partner.
- It provides a tangible option for pastors to download their counseling load to...it's much different saying...Go see a counselor...vs. go see one of our counselors from TPC...It provides our pastors with an immediate "out" so they aren't stuck long term or so they don't try and handle cases beyond their expertise.
- It increases our reputation as healing place...whether people come to our church or not...because TPC is here, people are more apt to think "that's a place that provides mending for broken lives."

Having TPC here at Light & Life Christian Fellowship has been a good thing. The three different therapist that have been here are wonderful Christian brothers and sisters as well as Godly counselors.
The reason we chose to go with TPC is that many of the issues people face in today's world go deeper than pastoral guidance. Sin has had a horrible effect on people's lives. With 3 out of 5 woman having been abused at some point in their life there is a need for deeper healing. Our pastoral staff recognizes that 3 sessions with an individual will most likely not be sufficient to heal the wounds from abuse, divorce, addiction, etc.
Our philosophy of ministry is such that we embrace therapy of a Christian counselor as a part of the overall discipleship process for many of God's people. It is a part of mending lives that is critical in helping people move forward in Christ.
